Un o fy mhrosiectau cyntaf yn y brifysgol oedd dylunio ap ar gyfer pwnc o’n dewis ni. Fel siaradwr Cymraeg o’r de, sydd newydd symud i’r ddinas yn dysgu thafodieithoedd gwahaol o ar draws y wlad, meddylais am greu ap oedd yn cyfieithu tafodiaeth o’r de ac o’r gogledd, gyda cyfieithiad Saesneg i siaradwyr di-Gymraeg.
One of my very first projects at university was to design an app for a topic of our choice. As a Welsh speaker from the south, who has just moved to the city learning different dialects from across the country, I thought of creating an app that translated the dialect from the south and from the north, with an English translation for non-native speakers.
Tafod
Er mai hwn yw un o’r prosiectau dylunio cyntaf i mi ei greu, rwy’n eithaf balch ohono ar y cyfan. O'r cysyniad i'r dyluniad, credaf mai dyma'r enghraifft gref gyntaf o ganlyniad terfynol cydlynol. Dewisais yr enw Tafod i awgrymu iaith ond yn benodol tafodiaeth. Mae’n rhaid i’r ddelwedd o’r anifeiliaid sydd wedi’u pentyrru ar ben ei gilydd ymddangos yn hap a damwain, ond dyma dwi’n ei ddychmygu wrth ddarllen yr hwiangerdd Sioni Bric a Moni, sef un o fy hoff hwiangerddi Cymraeg.
Despite this being one of the very first design projects I created, I’m pretty proud of it on the whole. From the concept to the design, I believe it’s the first strong example of a cohesive final result. I chose the name Tafod (Tongue) to hint towards language and especially since dialect in Welsh is tafodiaeth. The image of the animals stacked on top of one another must seem random and bizarre, but it’s what I imagine when I read the Welsh nursery rhyme Sioni Bric a Moni, which lists all of the animals shown. Which in all fairness, is random and bizarre.
