Dylunio Critigol

Critical Design

Beirniadigaeth ydy’r thema dominyddol y prosiect yma. Fel briff prifysgol, oedd angen meddwl yn uchelgeisiol i greu darn terfynol ar gyfer testun rydym yn dewis. Mae hyn yn gyfle i ni osod agenda ein hun.

Criticality is the dominant theme of this project. As a university brief we were challenges to be ambitious by creating whatever graphic communication outcomes that you think best address a topic of our choice. This is a chance for me to set my own agenda.

Canlyniad

Y testun roeddwn i wedi dewis ydy’r Teulu Frenhinol. Gyda’r bwriad i orfodi pobl i ailfeddwl ac i gwestiynnu “pam mae dal gennym frenhiniaeth?”, fe wnes i ailddylunio arian cyfred “Prydeinig”. Mae chwifio faner ben i waered, neu ludo stamp ben i waered yn arwydd o herfeiddiad, felly defnyddiais hyn fel elfen craidd o ailddylunio’r arian. Nid yn unig ydy’r manylion sy’n cynrychioli’r coron yn gwynebu’r ffordd anghywir, ond mae’r testun ar y ddau ochr wedi cael eu manipwleiddio i weud “For the falsity and corruption of the Crown of England” a may. Ar y llaw arall, ar “gefn” yr arian mae’r portread wedi aros yn ei unfan i ddangos maent wedi haeddu ei lle ar yr arian gyda is-bennawd i ddweud “I am no nepotism baby”.

Outcome

The topic I chose to explore is the Royal Family. Intending to make people reconsider and question “why do we still have a monarchy?”, I redesigned the “British” currency. Waving a flag upside down, or sticking a stamp upside down is often a sign of defiance, so I used this as a core element of redesigning money. Not only is anything that represents the crown facing the wrong way, but text across both sides have been manipulated to say “For the falsity and corruption of the Crown of England” and more. On the “back” of the money however, the portrait that appears is facing the right direction to show they’ve earned their place on currency and claiming “I am no nepotism baby”.
